BECOMING A BOOK COLLECTOR

During these difficult economic times many people are looking towards
different ways in which to invest their savings. With banks and
building societies offering paltry interest rates books are becoming a
sure way to see their money grow at a faster rate.

Books have always been attractive investments but you need a bit of
know-how to find the valuable ones. Signed first editions have always
risen the fastest in value but not everyone can find a relatively cheap
Charles Dickens. Sometimes it is worthwhile contacting large book
stores such as Foyles or Waterstones to reserve a signed book or ask if
they have any books from signings left over that you can buy, or you
could actually take the trouble to attend these yourself. The serious
book collector however won't do this and will research the price of a
new signed book and buy at a decent rate as soon as possible. Reading
books magazines can give news of up and coming best sellers and reading
reviews in general. Find out if any author has sold the film rights of
their book and buy the first edition before the film is released. If
you had had the foresight in buying a first edition Harry Potter, you
could be a few thousand pounds the richer since H.K Rowling was famous
for her minimalist signing record.
Buying lavish limited ediitons are another way to ensure a worthy
collection. Genesis Publishing collaborated with George Harrison over
two decades ago to produce 'I, me Mine', signed by the now deceased ex
Beatle and worth five figures. They now have a range of excellent books
featuring rock legends like John Lennon, Hendrix, Queen, Bowie,
Zepellin, Marley and Pink Floyd's Nick Mason, whose 3750 boxed
presentation went for over $3500 on ebay a while ago. We have about a
dozen of the deluxe verions of Genesis Publishing books plus a new
selection of Folio Society Books with their wonderfull illustrations.

Books. These are in excellent condition and though second hand have
been well looked after by their owner. All are now out-of-print and
